Askul Corp Reports Sharp Annual Loss Amid Revenue Slump

A dramatic reversal in fortune hit Askul Corp during the fiscal year ending May 20, as the Japanese retailer swung to a net loss of 22.15 billion yen. This stark figure stands in sharp contrast to the 9.07 billion yen profit posted by the company just one year prior.

Revenue for the period dropped to 400.20 billion yen, down from 481.10 billion yen in 2025. The company’s bottom-line performance suffered under the weight of an operating loss reaching 17.45 billion yen, compared to a profit of 14.00 billion yen in the previous cycle. Pretax figures mirrored this downward trajectory, settling at a loss of 19.06 billion yen against a prior profit of 13.82 billion yen. Shareholders faced a loss per share of 245.41 yen, a complete departure from the 95.45 yen earnings per share recorded in 2025. These results were calculated according to Japanese accounting standards.
