National statistics institute Inegi reported that factories produced 354,221 units during the month, bringing the total for the first half of the year to 2 million vehicles. This represents a marginal 0.4% decline compared to the same period in 2024. While international shipments faced a sharp monthly correction, totaling 301,009 units, the cumulative six-month export volume actually grew by 1.4% to reach 1.69 million vehicles. The United States remains the primary engine for this trade, accounting for 76% of all Mexican light vehicle exports.
Local market dynamics provided a contrast to the export volatility. Domestic new-car sales, which include imported models, climbed 7.7% in June to 126,902 units. This domestic appetite has stayed robust throughout the year, with total sales reaching 754,518 units since January—a 5.3% increase over the previous year's pace.
