Canada and Turkey Launch Free-Trade Negotiations

Negotiators are set to convene in the coming months to define the technical scope of the potential agreement. While the current annual two-way trade volume sits at approximately $3 billion, both governments signaled an intent to bolster commercial ties and generate new opportunities for businesses and workers in both nations.

Beyond trade, the diplomatic alignment deepened on Tuesday as Turkey confirmed its participation in the Canadian-led Defence Security and Resilience Bank. Ankara joins seven other nations in this initiative, signaling a broader push to integrate the two countries' economic and security agendas.
