A 200 million euro deal marks a significant shift for NATO as the alliance moves to overhaul its classified communications infrastructure. The project, known as the Protected Business Network, focuses on standardizing engineering practices and unifying cloud operations across the alliance. By replacing fragmented systems with this new platform, NATO intends to improve how digital services are developed and deployed. The initiative spans a seven-year timeline, during which the system will be rolled out to approximately 29,000 users.

NCIA General Manager Dylan Browne described the move as a necessary step toward creating a more data-driven enterprise capable of delivering capabilities at speed. Mauro Macchi, leading Accenture’s operations in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, characterized the endeavor as a critical effort to build a resilient, interoperable digital foundation. This collaboration positions Accenture and Leonardo as the primary architects for the alliance's long-term digital modernization strategy.
