Kia Recalls Nearly 463,000 Tellurides Over Fire Hazard

Owners of 2020 through 2024 Kia Telluride SUVs are being urged to park their vehicles outdoors and away from structures following a massive recall. The safety action targets 462,869 units, as investigators identified a critical defect in the front power seat motor that poses a significant fire risk.

Kia Recalls Nearly 463,000 Tellurides Over Fire Hazard

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that the front seat slide knob can become stuck, causing the seat motor to overheat during operation. In some cases, the problem is compounded by previous, improper recall repairs. To address the defect, Kia America is instructing dealers to install an electronic fuse assembly at no cost to owners. Until this hardware fix is performed, the manufacturer suggests keeping the vehicles parked well clear of homes or garages to prevent potential fire damage.
