Telecom Italia Board Endorses $14.87 Billion Poste Italiane Takeover

With a valuation now climbing to 13.2 billion euros, Telecom Italia’s board has formally signaled its support for the acquisition bid from Poste Italiane. The state-controlled postal operator, already holding a 20% stake in the telecommunications giant, seeks full control in a deal finalized just before the tender period begins.

Telecom Italia Board Endorses $14.87 Billion Poste Italiane Takeover

Directors at the firm, widely known as TIM, confirmed on Saturday that the proposal aligns with their industrial strategy and offers a fair financial return to investors. The bid, which utilizes a mix of cash and newly issued shares, represents a significant consolidation move within the European telecom market.

Poste Italiane set the terms at 1.67 euros in cash plus 0.218 newly issued shares for every TIM share acquired. Shareholders have a narrow window to respond, as the offer opens this Monday and concludes on September 11. This push comes during a broader wave of industry realignment, following recent high-value deals involving SFR, MasOrange, and the international operations of BT Group and Verizon.
