Nestle Faces Volume Test as First-Half Results Approach

Investors are bracing for a potential dip in revenue as Nestle prepares to report first-half 2026 results this Thursday. Analysts project sales to reach 43.03 billion Swiss francs, a decline from the 44.23 billion francs recorded during the same period last year, placing the spotlight on the company's ability to drive volume growth.

Nestle Faces Volume Test as First-Half Results Approach

Net profit is anticipated to remain largely flat at 5.07 billion francs, while underlying trading operating profit is expected to slide to 6.98 billion francs from 7.29 billion a year ago. With pricing strategies shifting away from the aggressive hikes seen in 2025, real internal growth—the volume of products actually sold—has become the primary metric for success. Barclays analyst Warren Ackerman warns that demand for price-sensitive categories like coffee and chocolate will be the decisive factor in whether the company can maintain momentum without the benefit of further price increases.

The U.S. market remains a critical variable, with expectations tempered by a challenging economic environment. While Americas CEO Jeff Hamilton has identified coffee as a primary growth engine, the broader regional performance remains under scrutiny. Additionally, the market is looking for signs of recovery in infant nutrition as recalled products return to shelves, alongside updates on the divestment of the waters, vitamins, and Blue Bottle businesses.
