The company reported a third-quarter profit of $595 million, or $3.01 a share, marking a substantial increase from the $435 million, or $2.12 a share, recorded during the same period last year. On an adjusted basis, earnings reached $3.14 per share, comfortably beating the $2.93 consensus estimate from analysts polled by FactSet.
Revenue gains were widespread across the firm's portfolio. The private client group—the company's largest segment—saw a 14% increase, while capital markets revenue surged by 25%. Asset management and banking operations also contributed to the bottom line, rising 24% and 7% respectively. Chief Executive Paul Shoukry pointed to the record-setting performance of fee-based assets within the private client division as a primary driver of the quarter's success.
