FDA Approval Sends Outlook Therapeutics Shares on Volatile Ride

The Food and Drug Administration has granted approval for Lytenava, a treatment for neovascular age-related macular degeneration, triggering significant volatility in Outlook Therapeutics stock. Shares surged to an intraday peak of $1.75 before a trading halt cooled the momentum, ultimately closing the session up 6% at $1.41.

FDA Approval Sends Outlook Therapeutics Shares on Volatile Ride

Outlook Therapeutics expects to make the medication available to U.S. patients by the end of the year. The company anticipates securing 12 years of market exclusivity, protected under the Biologics Price Competition and Innovation Act. This regulatory milestone marks a sharp reversal from the company's position on December 31, when the stock tumbled following an FDA complete response letter.

Confidence in the resubmission grew throughout the summer as the FDA accepted the updated biologics license application in June. That filing set a target action date of July 29, leading to the current authorization. Despite the initial enthusiasm, the stock pared some of its earlier gains after trading resumed following the halt, reflecting lingering investor caution regarding the company's path to commercialization.
