Trading for the new asset began at 2:00 p.m. Korea Standard Time, with Upbit restricting initial activity to the XRP Ledger version of the token. To maintain market stability during the opening phase, the exchange implemented temporary controls, including a five-minute block on buy orders and restrictions on sell orders priced more than 10% below the previous day’s closing value. Market orders remained disabled for the first two hours of the session, limiting users to limit orders only.
For deposits, Upbit requires users to utilize the XRP Ledger issuer address and mandates the inclusion of destination tags to ensure funds reach the correct accounts. The exchange warned that transfers from unsupported networks or non-compliant platforms may face delays or require complex recovery processes. This listing follows Ripple's earlier entry into the South Korean market via Coinone and aligns with the company's broader push to integrate its stablecoin into domestic payment and tokenized security projects. As of mid-July, Ripple reported $1.51 billion in circulating RLUSD, backed by $1.62 billion in segregated cash and short-term assets.
