Net income for the quarter reached $282 million, or $1.35 a share, climbing from the $229 million, or $1.10 a share, recorded during the same period last year. However, when accounting for one-time items and mark-to-market adjustments, operating earnings dipped to $274 million, or $1.32 a share, compared to $283 million, or $1.36 a share, in the previous year. This performance still outperformed the $1.14 a share consensus estimate from analysts polled by FactSet.
DTE continues to project 2026 operating earnings between $7.59 and $7.73 a share. This outlook follows a period of growth that saw 2025 operating earnings rise to $7.36 a share. The company currently manages an electric utility serving 2.3 million customers in Southeast Michigan alongside a natural gas business reaching 1.4 million customers throughout the state.
