Hormel Foods Appoints John Ghingo as CEO

John Ghingo will take the helm as chief executive officer of Hormel Foods on October 26, expanding his current role as president of the Austin-based consumer goods company. The transition marks a permanent shift in leadership for the maker of Spam and Skippy peanut butter, replacing interim executive Jeff Ettinger.

Hormel Foods Appoints John Ghingo as CEO

Ghingo, 53, joined the leadership team in July 2024 and quickly ascended to the presidency. He now steps into the top executive slot to succeed Ettinger, a 30-year veteran of the firm who returned to the corner office last year to manage operations following the retirement of former CEO James Snee. Ettinger will retain his seat on the board of directors.

The company confirmed that Ghingo’s compensation package for the dual role includes a base salary of $1.28 million. Additionally, he is eligible for an annual performance bonus structured at a target of 150% of his base pay.
