In currency and debt markets, the Wall Street Journal Dollar Index slipped to 97.47. Yields on government debt saw slight upward pressure, with the German 10-year Bund yield rising to 3.148% and the 10-year U.S. Treasury yield ticking up to 4.618%. Meanwhile, natural gas prices in Europe increased, with Dutch TTF futures trading at 58.85 euros per megawatt hour.
Asian markets displayed a mixed response to these global factors. Japan’s Nikkei 225 fell 1.5%, contrasting with the Hang Seng’s 1.8% gain and the Shanghai Composite’s 0.4% rise. U.S. futures pointed toward a steady start, with the S&P 500 up 0.2% and the Dow Jones Industrial Average showing little movement ahead of the opening bell.
