Aldar Properties Profit Climbs Despite Regional Market Headwinds

A 43% collapse in quarterly sales has not stopped Abu Dhabi’s Aldar Properties from posting a 10% profit increase, as the developer relied on its existing development backlog and steady recurring income to weather the cooling demand triggered by regional instability.

Aldar Properties Profit Climbs Despite Regional Market Headwinds

Net profit reached 2.17 billion dirhams ($590.8 million) for the second quarter, up from 1.97 billion dirhams during the same period last year. Revenue followed a similar upward trajectory, climbing 5% to 8.11 billion dirhams. These gains occurred as the company navigated a volatile environment where regional conflict, beginning in late February, hampered trade and travel across the Gulf.

Faced with these market pressures, the developer adopted a cautious stance toward new projects. Group sales fell to 5.4 billion dirhams, a sharp decline compared to the previous year. By slowing the pace of new launches, Aldar prioritized the monetization of its established project pipeline to insulate its balance sheet from the prevailing climate of uncertainty.
