The company reported a profit of $1.77 billion, or $1.37 a share, marking a sharp increase from the $1.09 billion, or 86 cents a share, recorded during the same period last year. Excluding one-time items, adjusted earnings hit $1.35 per share, comfortably beating the $1.18 consensus estimate from FactSet analysts. Revenue also surpassed the projected $8.26 billion.
Chief Executive Adam Norwitt attributed the broad-based performance to strength across most end markets, with the IT datacom sector acting as the primary catalyst. Looking ahead, Amphenol provided an optimistic outlook for the third quarter, forecasting sales between $9.3 billion and $9.4 billion. If realized, these figures will again exceed analyst estimates of $8.67 billion in revenue and $1.27 in adjusted earnings per share.
