Fiverr Shares Plummet as AI Disruption Forces Pivot

Fiverr International shares tumbled 16% in premarket trading Wednesday, hitting near 52-week lows after the company slashed its annual revenue guidance. The freelance marketplace cited an accelerating shift in the labor landscape, where the rapid adoption of artificial intelligence is fundamentally altering the demand for traditional digital services.

Fiverr Shares Plummet as AI Disruption Forces Pivot

The company now anticipates full-year revenue between $356 million and $372 million, a stark reduction from its previous forecast of up to $420 million. Chief Executive Micha Kaufman noted that the freelance sector is evolving faster than anticipated, compelling the platform to pivot toward higher-value work to maintain relevance in an AI-driven economy. This strategic reorientation, however, is expected to weigh on financial performance in the near term.

Financial results for the second quarter underscored these mounting pressures. Revenue dipped to $97.8 million, missing consensus analyst estimates of $99.7 million. While the company reported a net profit of $4.5 million—up from $3.2 million a year prior—its adjusted earnings of 50 cents per share fell short of Wall Street expectations by 2 cents. Chief Financial Officer Esti Levy-Dadon stated that the lower guidance reflects the time required for these internal transformation initiatives to translate into tangible financial growth.
