Hyperscale Data Pivots Bitcoin Reserves to Fund Michigan AI Campus

Hyperscale Data has liquidated approximately 100 Bitcoin and secured a specialized credit facility to accelerate development of its Michigan-based artificial intelligence infrastructure. The move allows the company to finance critical equipment purchases while maintaining its status as a significant corporate holder of the cryptocurrency.

The capital injection supports the expansion of the company’s Michigan data center, a project anchored by a 10-year master services agreement with an unnamed client. While the initial phase focuses on 20 megawatts of computing capacity, the contract includes options that could push total potential revenue beyond $3 billion if the client exercises expansion rights for an additional 32 megawatts. The firm currently retains roughly 1,006 BTC, ranking it 44th among publicly traded corporate holders.

To manage liquidity, Hyperscale Data negotiated a credit line backed by its remaining Bitcoin holdings, carrying a variable interest rate between 4.5% and 5%. This financing strategy reflects a broader trend among U.S. mining firms, such as Hut 8 and IREN, which are repurposing energy-rich infrastructure to capture demand for high-performance computing. Shares of the company, trading on the NYSE American under the ticker GPUS, rose more than 5% following the Thursday announcement, as investors weigh the potential of the AI pivot against the inherent price volatility of the company's digital asset reserves.
