The firm recorded an $8.32 billion unrealized loss on its digital assets, a stark contrast to the $14.05 billion unrealized gain reported during the same period last year. With 843,775 BTC on its books, the company's total position is currently valued at $54.77 billion—significantly lower than its aggregate acquisition cost of $63.69 billion. This leaves the firm roughly $10,776 underwater per coin based on an average purchase price of $75,476.
Despite the paper losses, the company’s core software business saw revenue rise 6.9% to $122.4 million, maintaining a gross margin of 66.6%. Management has focused on shoring up liquidity, raising $17.06 billion through capital markets and trimming convertible debt by 18% to $6.71 billion. Furthermore, the company increased its U.S. dollar reserve to $3.75 billion, a buffer intended to cover preferred stock dividends for the next two years. While these maneuvers provide financial flexibility, the company’s bottom line remains tethered to Bitcoin’s market trajectory, as evidenced by a net loss of $8.22 billion for the quarter.
