ARK Invest Adds $6.8M in Circle Shares Following New York Charter

Following Circle’s receipt of a limited-purpose trust charter from the New York Department of Financial Services, Cathie Wood’s ARK Invest acquired 109,129 shares of the stablecoin issuer. The purchase, valued at approximately $6.83 million, signals the firm’s continued confidence in Circle’s expanding regulated infrastructure despite recent market volatility.

The acquisition was spread across three exchange-traded funds: 77,103 shares went to the flagship ARK Innovation ETF, 22,238 to the ARK Next Generation Internet ETF, and 9,788 to the ARK Fintech Innovation ETF. These transactions were executed on July 31, the same day Circle’s stock closed at $62.61, representing a 2.54% decline during the session.

This New York regulatory approval allows Circle to conduct virtual currency activities and fiduciary services, facilitating the gradual transfer of USDC issuance to the new entity. This state-level authorization complements the federal trust charter granted by the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency on July 10. While these milestones establish a dual oversight structure, investors remain cautious; Circle shares have struggled to maintain momentum, having surrendered gains made earlier in the month as broader technology and digital-asset sectors face pressure. Investors are now looking toward the company’s second-quarter financial results, scheduled for release on August 5, to gauge whether this regulatory progress is successfully translating into tangible revenue growth.
