PwC Ends Disney World Tradition for Summer Interns

The signature finale of PwC’s summer internship program—a multi-day trip to Disney World—has been scrapped. Managers informed the 2026 intern class that the long-standing tradition, known as Impact, will not take place this year, marking a significant shift in how the Big Four firm rewards and integrates its early-talent cohort.

PwC Ends Disney World Tradition for Summer Interns

For nearly two decades, the Orlando excursion served as a high-profile perk for interns who secured full-time offers, featuring keynote speeches, networking, and resort access. Following the cancellation, some participants were told their internship conclusion would instead shift to local team dinners. A company spokesperson described the move as part of a broader strategy to prioritize relationship-building within specific offices and teams rather than through large-scale, centralized events.

This decision aligns with a series of internal pivots at the firm. PwC has recently launched the Learning Collective to emphasize team-based training and consolidated the number of locations where entry-level consultants begin their careers. These changes occur against a backdrop of global workforce adjustments, including a headcount reduction of 5,600 during the 2025 financial year and a planned one-third cut to US entry-level hiring over the next three years. While firms like KPMG and Deloitte continue to utilize massive, amenity-heavy training facilities, PwC is increasingly leaning into localized development as AI tools reshape the nature of junior-level work.
