Firmus secures $2 billion to accelerate Asia-Pacific AI infrastructure

The funding round, which nearly doubles the company's valuation from its April figures, drew significant backing from Blackstone, Nvidia, Coatue, and Jane Street. This latest investment brings the firm’s total equity raised over the past year to more than $3 billion. The company intends to use these resources to scale Project Southgate, its flagship Australian rollout, while initiating development for AI-native customers in the broader Asia-Pacific market.

Firmus is leveraging Nvidia’s DSX AI Factory Reference Architecture to optimize its proprietary HyperCube platform. By manufacturing infrastructure locally in Australia, the company aims to improve system resiliency and efficiency. Co-CEO Oliver Curtis noted that the investment provides the agility to manage domestic expansion while simultaneously preparing for international growth. This shift reflects a broader industry trend where former cryptocurrency miners are repurposing their power assets and operational expertise to capture the surging demand for physical AI compute infrastructure.
