Privacy has also moved to the forefront, with researchers exploring mechanisms such as keyed nonces and FOCIL to curb metadata leaks and censorship. Alongside these security updates, Ethereum is reconsidering its scaling strategy. Rather than relying on a single general-purpose mechanism, the network is moving toward specialized systems designed for specific use cases, such as token transfers and decentralized exchange trading. Additionally, the integration of AI-assisted formal verification represents a push to simplify the protocol, allowing developers to mathematically prove the integrity of Ethereum’s code across its execution, consensus, and data layers.
While these changes outline a clear direction for the network’s future, they remain preliminary. The Strawmap serves as a coordination document rather than a finalized schedule, meaning each proposal requires extensive research and community consensus before implementation.
