Broadridge Repo Platform Hits $8 Trillion Monthly Volume

Financial institutions are increasingly shifting to blockchain for core financing, as evidenced by Broadridge Financial Solutions processing $8 trillion in repo transactions throughout July. The DLR system operates as a bridge between distributed ledger technology and established financial infrastructure, allowing firms to settle repurchase agreements without dismantling legacy trading systems. By tokenizing collateral, institutions can move assets between counterparties and process financing in real-time. According to Horacio Barakat, Broadridge’s global head of digital innovation, the platform’s consistent performance proves that blockchain infrastructure can handle the scale and interoperability required for high-stakes financing.

Beyond repo settlement, Broadridge is expanding its blockchain footprint into corporate governance and tokenized securities. The company recently partnered with Ondo Finance to provide voting tools for holders of tokenized stocks, allowing investors to submit preferences that aggregate with traditional market channels. Similar governance models have been deployed for Galaxy Digital and Payward, the parent company of Kraken. As firms like the Depository Trust and Clearing Corporation and European entities like Boerse Stuttgart accelerate their own onchain initiatives, the move toward integrating digital asset infrastructure into traditional capital markets continues to gain momentum.
