Cardano roadmap targets 2026 for Dijkstra and 2027 for Peras

Cardano developers are adhering to a disciplined timeline for the upcoming Dijkstra upgrade, positioning the network for a two-phase rollout that begins with Linear Leios and Nested Transactions by the end of 2026, followed by the activation of the Ouroboros Peras consensus layer in the second quarter of 2027.

Cardano roadmap targets 2026 for Dijkstra and 2027 for Peras

The first phase focuses on scaling through Linear Leios, which integrates Endorser Blocks to boost transaction throughput without compromising the existing Praos security model. This stage also introduces Nested Transactions, updated serialization structures, and essential PlutusV4 modifications. While the technical infrastructure for Peras will be laid during this initial rollout, the actual protocol activation remains reserved for the second phase, necessitating a distinct intra-era hard fork governed by community voting.

Simultaneously, the Amaru project is advancing Cardano’s node diversity by moving toward full block production capabilities. Developers anticipate that the Rust-based implementation will be ready for mainnet integration by November 2026. To facilitate these changes, Input Output intends to submit a constitutional amendment by September 11, 2026, to formally integrate necessary protocol parameters into the network's governance framework. While Intersect has confirmed the current scope remains unchanged, officials noted that these dates are projections rather than guarantees, as rigorous testing and on-chain governance requirements could influence the final deployment schedule.
