Binance Reserve Data Shows Bitcoin Accumulation Amidst ETH, USDT Outflows

16,349 more Bitcoin sat in Binance user accounts on August 1 than the month prior, marking a sustained trend of accumulation. While Bitcoin reserves swelled to 657,000 BTC, holdings of Ethereum and Tether followed a downward trajectory, shedding significant volume across the exchange’s latest Proof of Reserves snapshot.

Binance Reserve Data Shows Bitcoin Accumulation Amidst ETH, USDT Outflows

The 45th iteration of Binance’s reserve report confirms that user-held Bitcoin has increased for the third consecutive month. Since May, customers have added roughly 50,000 BTC to their accounts. This growth contrasts sharply with Ethereum and USDT, which saw respective declines of 2.57% during the same period. Ethereum balances dropped by 105,154 ETH to approximately 3.98 million, while Tether holdings retracted by roughly 870 million tokens, settling at 32.9 billion USDT.

Binance maintains that its reserve ratios remain above 100% for these assets, with BTC and ETH at 100.25% and USDT at 103.62%. These figures reflect a point-in-time snapshot of on-chain assets held against user liabilities. However, the data does not account for user intent or market causality; it remains unclear whether these shifts represent organic buying, withdrawals to private wallets, or reallocations between different assets and trading venues. As Proof of Reserves provides only a partial view of an exchange's financial health, it does not function as a comprehensive independent audit of broader corporate liabilities or off-chain obligations.
