The new fund will be managed by Austin Barack, the founder of Relayer Capital, who joins RockawayX as part of the acquisition. Relayer reportedly achieved a 70% return during 2026, bolstered by high-performing positions in the Hyperliquid HYPE token and Venice AI’s VVV token. While specific details regarding the new fund's fee structure or regional availability remain under wraps, the strategy represents a departure from RockawayX’s standard venture model, which typically requires longer holding periods and private company exits.
RockawayX currently manages approximately $2 billion across its diverse divisions, including blockchain infrastructure and credit strategies. The firm’s existing market-neutral fund, active since 2022, has reported a 42.59% return since inception. This expansion follows a series of corporate maneuvers, including the closure of a $125 million venture fund in early 2025 and a legal dispute involving a collapsed merger with Solmate Infrastructure. As the firm broadens its scope, it joins other crypto-native venture players like Paradigm and Framework Ventures, which have recently diversified their mandates to include artificial intelligence and robotics alongside digital assets.
