Bernstein Projects Bitcoin to Reach $150,000 by Mid-2027

Wall Street research firm Bernstein expects Bitcoin to hit a record $150,000 by mid-2027, driven by institutional adoption and a potential currency-debasement scenario. Analysts led by Gautam Chhugani maintain that the digital asset will continue to follow its historical four-year cycle, eventually climbing toward $300,000 by 2029.

The firm’s base-case forecast suggests Bitcoin could recover to $125,000 by the end of 2026. However, analysts outlined a more aggressive path where mounting U.S. sovereign debt and fiscal pressure force policymakers into currency debasement. In this scenario, Bitcoin could reach $200,000 by 2027 and climb as high as $500,000 two years later. Bernstein continues to hold a long-term projection of $1 million per coin by the end of 2033.

Institutional involvement remains a core pillar of this outlook. Increased access via U.S.-listed spot ETFs and significant corporate treasury purchases have provided a buffer against market volatility. Data indicates that approximately 59% of Bitcoin’s total supply has remained inactive over the past year, signaling a resilient holder base. While Bitcoin recently experienced a 50% decline from its October 2025 peak, the subsequent rebound and consistent ETF inflows suggest that institutional appetite persists even as derivatives traders manage leveraged positions.
