NFT Market Volume Plummets 45% as Trading Activity Widens

Global NFT sales dropped 44.7% to $63.33 million over the past week, even as the market witnessed a surge in unique user participation. While total transaction volume contracted to 802,330, the number of active buyer and seller addresses climbed significantly, suggesting a shift toward broader but lower-value market activity.

NFT Market Volume Plummets 45% as Trading Activity Widens

The contraction in sales volume represents a steep decline from the $114.5 million recorded during the previous seven-day period. According to CryptoSlam data from Aug. 29, the spike in active addresses—with buyers rising 30.48% to 227,316 and sellers jumping 54.64% to 247,373—indicates that trading is currently dispersed across a larger pool of participants rather than concentrated in high-frequency transactions.

Ethereum remains the dominant network for digital collectibles, accounting for $35.56 million in organic sales, though this figure marks a 49.01% weekly retreat. Bitcoin followed in second place with $8.68 million, representing a 59.53% decline. Despite the overall downturn, specific segments showed resilience. The Courtyard collection led the market with $6.09 million in sales, while the $X@AGI BRC-20 collection saw a notable 74.89% increase, bolstered by a single $2.14 million transaction that accounted for the bulk of its weekly volume. This trend underscores a market increasingly driven by isolated high-value trades and decentralized participation rather than uniform growth.
