Hyperliquid Gains First Builder-Deployed Outcome Exchange

Hyperliquid has recorded the first deployment of an outcome-based decentralized exchange under the moniker OUT, utilizing the network’s HIP-4 framework. The transaction confirms the creation of the market via on-chain records, marking a milestone for the protocol's permissionless market expansion, though live trading status remains unverified.

The HIP-4 framework enables approved developers to instantiate prediction markets without requiring validator intervention for every individual contract. By adhering to pre-authorized templates, deployers can structure binary or multi-result markets that operate on a fully collateralized basis. Unlike perpetual futures, these contracts eliminate leverage, funding rates, and traditional liquidation mechanisms, as they settle within a fixed range at expiration.

While the on-chain transaction for OUT is confirmed, developer documentation currently classifies HIP-4 deployer actions as testnet-only features. This distinction suggests that the exchange may not yet be functional for mainnet trading. Furthermore, the operational cost for such deployments is significant; operators must stake 500,000 HYPE to participate, with separate allocations required for different framework operations.

Regulatory hurdles remain a critical factor for the platform. OUT lacks the CFTC registration held by competitors like Kalshi, and Hyperliquid has confirmed that its services are not accessible to users in the United States. Despite previous successful tests involving Bitcoin price contracts and inflation data, the protocol continues to navigate a complex legal landscape regarding the classification of event contracts as derivatives versus wagers.
