Eos Energy Shares Surge on Google Data Center Power Deal

A 9.5% jump in Eos Energy Enterprises stock followed the company’s announcement of a new partnership to supply clean, around-the-clock power to the PJM grid. The deal aims to support Google’s expanding data center infrastructure in the Mid-Atlantic, including a significant upcoming installation in West Virginia.

The project, managed by MN8 Energy, integrates 86 megawatts of solar capacity alongside 10 megawatts of Eos’ proprietary zinc-based energy storage and 70 megawatts of lithium-ion technology. This hybrid approach intends to provide reliable, dispatchable power for the tech giant's regional operations. Construction is slated for a phased rollout, with solar generation starting in 2028, followed by lithium-ion and zinc-based storage systems in 2029 and 2030.

Lucia Tian, Google’s director of advanced energy technologies, noted that the initiative aligns the company's infrastructure requirements with broader goals for affordable, clean energy. Despite the morning rally to $3.33, Eos Energy faces a challenging market outlook, having shed approximately 75% of its share value since the start of the year.
