Chainlink Whale Deposits $7.6 Million in LINK to Coinbase

A significant Chainlink holder moved 620,420 tokens, valued at approximately $7.6 million, to Coinbase on September 7. This transaction marks the latest installment in a three-week divestment trend that has seen a total of 2.41 million LINK shifted toward the exchange, raising questions about potential sell-side pressure.

Chainlink Whale Deposits $7.6 Million in LINK to Coinbase

The address, identified by analytics firm Onchain Lens as 0xF5B007a6341AcC8CfEC581d8A1c5560bC19d9650, has steadily funneled assets to Coinbase after previously accumulating them from Binance. While large exchange inflows are often interpreted by market participants as a precursor to liquidations, on-chain data remains inconclusive regarding the owner’s ultimate intent. The tokens could be earmarked for OTC settlement, collateralized lending, or internal rebalancing rather than an immediate market sale.

Despite the scale of the transfer, LINK maintained bullish momentum, trading near $13.07 on September 7—a 7.1% increase during the session. Technical indicators, including a positive MACD and a relative strength index near 72.47, suggest the token is currently in an overbought state, though this does not guarantee an immediate price correction. While the broader Chainlink ecosystem continues to see institutional adoption—notably through Aave’s integration of the Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol and ongoing trials with major banks—this specific whale activity highlights a divergence between long-term infrastructure growth and individual holder strategies.
