Ripple extends college sports push with Florida Gators field branding

The University of Florida is placing the XRP logo on the turf at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium, marking a significant expansion of Ripple’s athletic sponsorship strategy. This multi-year deal, which includes campus-wide digital signage and student financial education programs, follows a similar partnership established earlier this year with the University of Kansas.

Ripple extends college sports push with Florida Gators field branding

Florida Athletics announced the agreement on Friday, confirming that the token's branding will debut at the 88,548-seat venue, commonly known as the Swamp, starting this season. While financial terms remain undisclosed, University of Florida Director of Athletics Scott Stricklin framed the move as an effort to integrate innovative financial technology into the school's athletic culture. The partnership focuses on both marketing and academic initiatives, specifically targeting education in digital assets and traditional finance for student-athletes.

This move signals a shift in Ripple’s promotional tactics, moving from the jersey patches used at Kansas to high-visibility physical infrastructure. The strategy aims to embed the XRP brand within the Southeastern Conference, one of the most prominent collegiate sports landscapes in the U.S. Ripple CTO Emeritus David Schwartz has previously defended these sponsorships, asserting that the company’s commercial advertising remains protected under First Amendment standards for lawful products.

Market reaction to the announcement has been modest, with XRP trading near $1.41 on Friday. While the token has seen a 34.9% increase over the last month, the broader momentum in institutional demand via U.S. spot XRP exchange-traded funds has cooled. Cumulative net inflows for these funds currently hover around $1.6 billion, even as new filings for XRP-linked products continue to emerge from firms like ProShares. Beyond the stadium, Ripple continues to pivot toward diversified institutional services, including its RLUSD stablecoin and treasury management tools, though the Florida agreement ensures the XRP token itself remains the primary face of the company’s public-facing sports presence.
