Ford Recalls 223,000 F-150 Trucks Over Detaching Fuel Tanks

The recall encompasses specific F-150 models manufactured between 2023 and 2027. According to safety reports, the defect stems from improperly secured fuel-tank straps, which pose a dual threat: fuel leakage leading to engine stalls or fires, and the physical detachment of the tank itself. While the manufacturer estimates that only 1% of the affected vehicles currently harbor the defect, the agency is mandating inspections to prevent potential crashes.

Dealers have been instructed to examine the tank straps and perform replacements at no cost to owners. Ford plans to begin mailing notification letters to affected customers on September 21, providing guidance on how to secure repairs for these high-volume pickup trucks.
