XRP Ledger nears Batch upgrade activation after security overhaul

The XRP Ledger’s Batch V1.1 amendment has secured 27 of 35 validator votes, sitting just one tally away from the 80% threshold required to trigger its activation. This milestone follows an intensive remediation effort that saw developers resolve 11 software vulnerabilities uncovered during recent security audits.

The proposed upgrade allows users to group up to eight transactions into a single operation, enabling atomic execution where linked payments either succeed or fail as a unit. This functionality is intended to streamline token swaps and platform fee payments, with RippleX confirming that several commercial projects are already building on the feature. The current version, Batch V1.1, replaces an earlier iteration that was withdrawn after researchers identified a serious authorization flaw before it reached the mainnet.

To ensure stability, the new implementation underwent rigorous scrutiny, including reviews by four senior engineers and external audits by Halborn and Common Prefix. Among the 11 recently addressed issues were problems related to signature verification and potential server crashes, with one vulnerability previously classified as critical. If one more validator joins the current 77% support base, the network will enter a mandatory 14-day observation window. During this period, the amendment must maintain its 80% consensus to successfully deploy on the mainnet, following the governance pattern established by the recent fixCleanup3_2_0 rollout.
