JBS Launches Leather Venture to Expand Processing Operations

The new company operates on a 50-50 ownership split, maintaining parity across its six-member board. JBS will appoint the board chair and chief financial officer, while Viva takes responsibility for the roles of chief executive and chief operating officer. The partnership leverages JBS’s existing slaughterhouse infrastructure, which will supply the venture with raw hides for processing.

Beyond leather production, the agreement creates an internal supply loop for the meat producer. JBS Viva will sell trimmings and shavings generated during the leather tanning process back to JBS. These byproducts are destined for the company's gelatin and collagen production lines, integrating the new business directly into the firm’s existing manufacturing chain.
