NFT Market Sales Dip as Participation Metrics Surge

Global NFT sales volume contracted by 15.28% to $37.54 million over the past week, even as the number of active buyer and seller addresses more than doubled. This divergence between declining dollar volume and rising wallet participation suggests activity is dispersing across a wider, potentially more fragmented user base.

NFT Market Sales Dip as Participation Metrics Surge

According to CryptoSlam data from September 19, the number of buyer addresses surged 174.04% to 114,977, while seller addresses climbed 151.72% to 108,037. Despite this influx of activity, total transactions fell 9.08% to 808,432, indicating that the recent market movement did not translate into a higher frequency of individual trades. Ethereum maintained its position as the primary network for organic sales, recording $15.32 million in volume, despite a 2.66% weekly decline. Bitcoin followed a sharper trajectory, with sales plummeting 53.99% to $4.33 million.

Individual high-value transactions were heavily influenced by Alchemix V3 Transmuter tokens, which occupied four of the top five spots in the weekly rankings. Alchemix V3 Transmuter #219 led the market with a sale price of $770,985. This concentration of volume within a specific decentralized finance protocol contrasts with the broader performance of collectibles like Courtyard, which remained the top-selling collection with $6.3 million in sales. While the wider cryptocurrency market saw a rebound—with Bitcoin trading near $81,311 and Ethereum near $2,647—the data suggests no direct correlation between these macro-level gains and the current cooling of the NFT sector.
