Aurora Intents routed $19 million into Zcash zkSNARKS auction

More than $19 million in assets flowed through Aurora Intents for the recent zkSNARKS NFT auction, representing over half of the total $36.94 million submitted volume. The infrastructure enabled bidders to convert various cryptocurrencies into ZEC directly, simplifying participation for those without existing Zcash holdings.

Aurora Labs CEO Declan Hannon confirmed that the platform processed 1,718 individual swaps to facilitate these bids. USDC emerged as the primary source asset, accounting for 27% of the routed volume, followed closely by native ETH at 21%. The auction, which offered 8,000 assets, saw participants utilize NEAR Intents solvers to lock in exchange rates before signing their transactions. This mechanism prevented slippage by ensuring that if market conditions shifted beyond the approved range, the transaction would fail and trigger an automatic refund.

While the auction utilized Zcash’s shielded pool to protect the privacy of the final bids, the initial conversion process remained transparent. Assets transferred from chains like Solana or BNB left a public footprint on their respective ledgers before entering the Zcash ecosystem. Hannon emphasized that while the destination-side transaction remains private, the preceding cross-chain activity follows the standard public visibility associated with those source networks. The sale itself cleared at 1.5 ZEC per asset, with roughly 13,309 ZEC allocated for refunds to unsuccessful bidders or as excess deposits.
