Geo Debates launches with showdown over the CLARITY Act

The platform functions similarly to TikTok, presenting debates in a vertical feed. However, each session is strictly structured: four timed turns across two rounds, totaling roughly three and a half minutes. While one participant speaks, the other is muted, with the final product edited into a split-screen video. Beyond the visual format, Geo archives every individual point raised during the exchange into a searchable knowledge graph, tagging statements as either factual claims or opinions.

Geo founder Yaniv Tal, who previously built the data-indexing protocol The Graph, views this as a shift from querying open data to querying human reasoning. "You get a turn, you get a clock, and your mic is dead until it’s your turn again," Tal stated. Once a debate concludes, viewers can vote for the more compelling argument, and the points raised become accessible for future challenges, creating a persistent record of the industry's legislative dispute.

The initial debate centers on H.R. 3633, which stalled in the Senate on September 15 after failing to secure the 60 votes required for cloture. The bill’s defeat highlighted a rift between executives like Coinbase’s Brian Armstrong, who advocate for agency-led rulemaking, and those who argue that only congressional action can provide the durable legal framework necessary for long-term industry stability. By hosting this exchange, Geo aims to move beyond the fragmented nature of social media discourse, providing a structured venue where every claim and contradiction remains on the record.
