Arthur Hayes Targets $5,000 Ethereum Price Driven by Institutional Shift

Ethereum could reach $5,000 within a year as Robinhood’s integration of the network for its financial blockchain creates a blueprint for institutional adoption, according to Arthur Hayes. Speaking at EastPoint: Seoul 2026, the Maelstrom chief investment officer argued that Robinhood’s infrastructure choice provides a critical narrative shift for the asset.

Arthur Hayes Targets $5,000 Ethereum Price Driven by Institutional Shift

Robinhood’s public mainnet, launched in July as an Ethereum Layer 2 using Arbitrum technology, serves as the primary catalyst for Hayes’ outlook. By utilizing Ethereum as its security layer and ETH as the native gas token, the brokerage has established a reference point for other financial institutions looking to tokenize real-world assets, including equities and private instruments. Since its launch, the network has processed billions in decentralized exchange volume, with Uniswap deploying dedicated market-making tools to support the ecosystem.

For Ether to reach the $5,000 target, it must first overcome a significant price ceiling near $2,800. While the token recently struggled to sustain momentum above $2,700, market sentiment has been bolstered by consistent institutional demand. U.S. spot Ether ETFs reported nearly $690 million in net inflows over five consecutive trading sessions late last month, led by BlackRock’s ETHA and Fidelity’s FETH. Simultaneously, staking demand remains robust; approximately 43.5 million ETH is currently locked in the network’s proof-of-stake system, with the validator entry queue significantly outpacing the exit queue. This continued removal of liquid supply from exchanges, coupled with the ongoing institutional narrative shift, forms the core of the bullish thesis for Ethereum over the coming year.
