The alliance combines DayOneDream’s expertise in managing K-pop acts like BTOB and LEE CHAE YEON with Soneium’s Ethereum layer-2 infrastructure. By tokenizing K-content assets, the companies intend to create new avenues for rights holders to raise capital while offering fans a financial stake in the entertainment products they follow. This model builds on a pilot project completed in May, where WAVIST successfully issued, redeemed, and burned a tokenized IP bond, proving the life cycle management of such digital financial products.
Dylan Cho, DayOneDream’s RWA lead, noted that the current capital flow into the K-pop market remains stagnant despite the industry's massive scale, suggesting that direct investment through IP could modernize the sector. Yuji Kumagai, head of Soneium Protocol, emphasized that the blockchain integration provides creators with flexible fundraising tools. While the companies have not disclosed specific terms for upcoming assets, they confirmed that future access will be subject to strict regulatory compliance and user eligibility criteria. This development marks another step in the broader trend of connecting music and entertainment rights with decentralized financial infrastructure, similar to recent industry efforts like the Music Protocol and Plume partnership.
