XRP Stalls at $1.50 as Ripple Unlocks 1 Billion Tokens

Ripple released 1 billion XRP from escrow on October 1, adding fresh supply to a market already struggling to clear the $1.54 resistance level. Despite institutional inflows via U.S. spot ETFs and new infrastructure integration in Brazil, the token remains locked in a tight consolidation range between $1.46 and $1.54.

The 1 billion XRP release, valued at approximately $1.49 billion, occurred in four distinct transactions shortly after midnight UTC. While such events often trigger investor caution, historical data suggests that Ripple frequently redirects a portion of these monthly unlocks back into new escrow contracts or corporate reserves, meaning the total volume is unlikely to hit open markets immediately.

Market participants are currently weighing this supply event against ongoing institutional demand. U.S. spot XRP ETFs absorbed $121.4 million in September, bringing cumulative inflows to roughly $1.79 billion. Yet, this capital has struggled to catalyze a sustained breakout. Simultaneously, the XRP Ledger is seeing utility growth, notably through a partnership with CSD BR, which is now using the ledger to audit investment fund shares from BTG Pactual. While this marks a significant technical milestone, it functions as a secondary record layer rather than a direct driver of XRP token demand.

Technical indicators show momentum cooling as the token trades near $1.49. The 14-period RSI sits at 55.70, having pulled back from its recent peak, while the Aroon Oscillator suggests a weakening upward trend. Traders are focused on the $1.54 breakout level; clearing this hurdle could open a path toward $1.70, according to analyst projections. Conversely, a failure to defend the $1.46 support zone would likely invalidate the current bullish consolidation structure, leaving the asset vulnerable to further downward pressure.
