The upgrade shifts the platform away from the legacy Conditional Tokens Framework, moving toward a streamlined architecture centered on a common PositionManager contract. By replacing disparate adapters with modular components, Polymarket enables more flexible market structures, including binary, negative-risk, and combinatorial options. Protocol head Rajath Alex confirmed that canary markets are currently active, with a tentative target of November 2 for net-new markets to adopt the V2 standard.
Central to this shift is the formalization of pUSD as the primary collateral across all V2 modules. While the asset itself was introduced earlier this year, the new protocol integrates it directly into the position management lifecycle. Developers must note that existing CTF holdings will not automatically migrate, requiring integrations to maintain support for legacy positions alongside new V2 contracts. Furthermore, the platform is retiring its Data API V1 on October 24, mandating that developers shift to the newer, more efficient endpoint structure by that date.
Resolution logic also receives a major update through the new OracleAggregator, which allows for pluggable settlement modules from UMA and Chainlink. This flexibility enables the platform to combine different reporter sources under specific thresholds for individual markets. To mitigate risks during this transition, Polymarket has completed security audits with firms including Certora, Quantstamp, and Sigma Prime, while keeping its $5 million bug bounty program active for the new smart contract stack.
