Meritz Securities Partners With Ripple to Explore Tokenization

Meritz Securities has entered a strategic partnership with Ripple to evaluate the integration of institutional-grade custody and tokenization infrastructure into South Korea’s capital markets. The collaboration, finalized on Oct. 1 in Seoul, signals a long-term move by the brokerage to prepare for upcoming regulatory shifts in digital finance.

Meritz Securities Partners With Ripple to Explore Tokenization

The agreement, signed by Meritz CEO Jang Won-jae and Ripple President Monica Long, focuses on assessing how Ripple’s existing global infrastructure can function within South Korea’s current financial regulations. While no specific product launches have been announced, the firm is vetting a wide array of digital asset businesses, including spot crypto ETFs, tokenized securities, and won-denominated stablecoins. The initiative aims to align Meritz’s capital market operations with evolving standards, particularly as the nation prepares for security token amendments expected in February 2027.

This move builds on Ripple’s established presence in the region, following a previous project with Kyobo Life Insurance that utilized Ripple Custody to test the settlement of tokenized government bonds. By leveraging institutional infrastructure, Meritz intends to phase in digital asset services as domestic rules become clearer. The partnership remains technology-focused, with both parties currently prioritizing the utility of custody and tokenization platforms over the immediate adoption of specific digital assets like XRP or the RLUSD stablecoin.
