Ledger Integrates Morpho to Enable Bitcoin-Backed Loans

Ledger has launched a borrowing feature within its wallet app, allowing users to leverage Bitcoin holdings for stablecoin loans. By integrating Morpho’s decentralized infrastructure, the company enables hardware-authenticated lending against cbBTC and wBTC collateral, marking a shift toward deeper integration of self-custodial financial services for its user base.

The new functionality allows eligible users to pledge Coinbase Wrapped Bitcoin or wBTC to secure liquidity in USDC or USDT. Yield.xyz manages the loan flow and position monitoring, while the hardware device maintains private key security. Borrowers can simulate loan terms, manage loan-to-value ratios, and perform repayments directly through the interface. Ledger emphasizes that interest rates remain variable, dictated by market utilization, and warns that users face standard liquidation risks.

Beyond borrowing, Ledger has established a direct connection to Morpho for all users. This eliminates the need for browser extensions when interacting with decentralized applications, allowing for hardware-backed transaction authorization via Clear Signing. Morpho co-founder Paul Frambot noted that this service complements the existing Ledger Earn feature, creating a self-contained liquidity ecosystem. Ledger, which claims to secure nearly 30% of retail-held Bitcoin, is rolling out the feature progressively based on regional availability.

In a separate move, the company released a limited-edition Nano Gen5 device branded for the San Antonio Spurs. Priced at €199, the 250-unit run represents the first NBA-licensed hardware wallet. Due to licensing constraints, sales are restricted to specific regions, including parts of Texas, Singapore, and Paris, excluding broader North American markets.
