The 32-member bloc reaffirmed its commitment to finalize the release of 400 million barrels of oil, a plan announced on March 11. To date, approximately 325 million barrels have reached the market. The agency noted that fulfilling the remaining pledges will inject an additional 100 million barrels of crude into the global supply chain. Beyond crude, the agency holds over 200 million barrels of diesel in emergency reserves, a critical buffer as regional conflicts continue to strain energy logistics.
This strategy aligns with recent directives from the Group of Seven, which called for a coordinated release of both crude and substantial diesel volumes. IEA member governments intend to review the efficacy of these measures at a governing board meeting scheduled for next week. For now, the agency maintains that it stands prepared to deploy further stock if the market requires additional stabilization.
