Celanese Raises Polyamide Prices Across North and South America

Rising operational costs are forcing Celanese to adjust its pricing strategy, impacting a broad spectrum of specialty plastics across the Americas. Starting October 19, the chemical giant will implement significant surcharges on its Polyamide 6 and 66 product lines, marking a shift in market conditions for downstream manufacturing sectors.

The price adjustments target six core brand lines: Zytel, Frianyl, Celanyl, Minlon, CoolPoly, and Ecomid. For Polyamide 6 products, the company is adding 44 cents per kilogram, equivalent to 20 cents per pound. Polyamide 66 variants will see a slightly smaller increase of 33 cents per kilogram, or 15 cents per pound.

Management cited evolving market pressures and sustained cost inflation as the drivers behind the hikes, framing the move as a necessity to maintain supply chain stability and product quality. While these figures represent the standard adjustment, the company noted that specific product grades may face even steeper increases depending on individual contract terms.
