The Oct. 24–25 event, hosted by Paris-based nonprofit XRPL Commons, offers participants a chance to build on test versions of the XLS-65 and XLS-66 proposals. While these features aim to bring DeFi functionality directly to the ledger without bridges or third-party smart contracts, their activation is not guaranteed. Under network rules, the amendments require sustained support from at least 80% of trusted validators for two consecutive weeks before they can be integrated into the mainnet.
Participants will focus on the proposed "Single Asset Vaults" and fixed-term loan structures, which rely on off-chain credit assessments rather than traditional over-collateralization. The hackathon features four development tracks, including one dedicated to "Agentic Finance" for AI-driven payment infrastructure. Backed by partners such as Ripple, Mastercard, and Amazon Web Services, the event offers over $40,000 in prizes and provides top-performing teams with a fast track into the XRPL Commons incubation program.
