The revised guidance reflects an adjusted EBITDA loss ranging from $510 million to $565 million, a sharp reversal from the previously anticipated profit of up to $140 million. This financial swing stems from a $625 million to $675 million headwind linked to aggressive price cuts on inventory held by channel customers and a broader restructuring of the company’s U.S. pricing model.
Chief Executive Pierre Brondeau attributed the shortfall to persistent market volatility and an oversupply of high-priced products lingering in customer inventories. These stockpiles have effectively choked off product movement and replenishment demand. While Brondeau noted that FMC has attempted to mitigate these pressures over several quarters, the sustained weakness in agricultural markets ultimately forced the firm to implement these significant corrective actions.
