A $28.2 million subcontract has landed in the hands of Canadian firm Quarterhill, tasking the company with critical infrastructure support for the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority. The agreement marks a significant expansion in the modernization of one of the largest managed lane back-office systems in the United States.

Quarterhill Secures $28 Million LA Metro Tolling Contract

Working as a subcontractor to BRiC-TPS, Quarterhill will oversee operations and maintenance for the ExpressLanes network spanning the I-10, I-110, and I-105 freeways, along with future corridors. The deal spans an initial eight-year term, with two additional three-year options that could stretch the partnership to 14 years.

The project scope covers the engine of Los Angeles tolling, including transaction management, customer account handling, and financial reporting. Beyond technical system integrations, Quarterhill is responsible for project management, security compliance, and staffing the on-site customer service help desk. This integration effort aims to streamline the complex back-office functions required to keep the region's managed lanes operational.
