Zodl Opens Waitlist for macOS Vault App Designed for Shielded ZEC

More than 4,100 users have signed up for the Zodl Vault beta, a new desktop application dedicated to the long-term self-custody of shielded Zcash. The company plans to grant access to these prospective testers in staged batches of 100 people at a time.

Zodl Opens Waitlist for macOS Vault App Designed for Shielded ZEC

The application, introduced by Zodl on October 7, focuses exclusively on secure, long-term storage for shielded ZEC balances. While the official waitlist page confirms the rollout strategy, it remains silent on a specific public launch date and the criteria for selecting participants from the existing pool of registrants. Currently, the project is limited to macOS, with no public roadmap detailing potential support for Windows or Linux.

Zodl’s expansion into desktop custody follows the rebranding of the Zashi wallet earlier this year. Unlike the company’s existing mobile wallet, which supports hardware signing via devices like Keystone and features cross-chain swaps through NEAR Intents, the Vault page does not currently list these payment or integration capabilities. The project arrives as interest in shielded assets remains steady, with Zcash Stats reporting approximately 4.96 million ZEC held in shielded pools as of mid-October.
